It's a very simple, effective design based on feedback we've had from Border Patrol and the military. It's a fence that can be built on the cheap, effective and secure.

The north is still a threat to national security. There are 1,000 border patrol agents to cover a 4,000-mile northern border. It's an outrage. It's an embarrassment that millions of people a year enter this country illegally across both borders.

The sheriffs are completely outnumbered and outgunned. And we don't have enough border patrol agents.

We need the National Guard on this border immediately, ... The safety of citizens is at risk.

Certainly, as with everything else, we're only able to cover a small portion of the border. The state and federal government have bought up most of the land around the border. I suspect that's why we'll never get control of the border.

We don't need immigration reform. Secure the border first. Maybe in a couple of years, we'll talk about a guest worker program.
