It's another booster shot for our local economy. The Amgen folks want to hire people within our labor force.

You typically see a rebound in the labor force when the economy starts to recover. But because businesses are operating so much more efficiently, there's a limit to the number of jobs available. Unemployment could still go up a few ticks.

It doesn't really deal with why people are migrating or why our economy is so dependent on their labor. The resourcefulness of people on both sides of the border is likely to be greater than a fence.

The inflation story embedded in this report is really not that bad. People are coming back into the labor force and wage pressures aren't showing, so this is generally good for bonds.

In the real world, people are moving in and out of the labor force.

It's a statewide battle. When businesses started to hire back, we see a corresponding increase in the labor force. It makes it hard to bring down the unemployment rate.
