It's been hard to get a team together. I've had to scramble a bit, and I'm really surprised. Other private schools like Cathedral and Chatard have 15-20 girls. I'm not sure what the problem is this year. Usually I have 10 or 11 girls.

The one thing about our team that I like is how all the grades and ages blend together. They all support each other in practice and meets.

It was hard. But we needed that to come together. We were kind of splintered a little bit, and we were going away from the team thing. Guys were going in separate directions. Getting up at 6 a.m., guys could be like, 'Aw, forget this.' But we really came together and helped each other.

Our team is slowly coming together. Rider led the way and was solid at the libero position. Not only was she able to dig the ball, but she passed to target which jump-started our offense. And Vasquez controlled the net.
