It's been steady ever since we opened up. We expected a big surge when it first opened up because we knew people would be curious. But, the surge kept going.

At least we didn't have the tidal surge we expected,

What's amazing is that when the first Renaissance fair started 35 years ago, and when there was a surge of them in the late 1970s, everyone involved anticipated a 10-year life span for the phenomenon, ... But with the resilience and continued popularity of the fairs, we're still on a growth curve.

We are disappointed we did not get the outcome we first expected, but we were very selective, and I'm glad we didn't do it on a broader scale.

A thing long expected takes the form of the unexpected when at last it comes

Compton Terrace was one of the first 'sheds.' When Jess opened it, there weren't many venues like it. No one thought to dig a hole in the ground and hold concerts outdoors. Now there are 50 or 60 across the country.
