It's kind of an unusual musical,

one of the most athletic roles I've done in my life. The choreography is very athletic, and it's a very intense time.

When I started to learn my role, she very much emphasized that the most important part of performing was the storytelling. She would teach us the steps and get all worried about pulling off specific turns and jumps, but then she . . . would make us act out the scenes without saying a single word.

Most of the time, somebody has a good story and adds the songs to it later. This show seems to be worked from the completely opposite angle. Billy wrote the music and lyrics, and Twyla grabs it and makes the show.

In voiceover, you have to restrain yourself when you're acting in the sound booth in front of the microphone. If you lean left or you lean right, you're going to lose the voice. Yet you yourself become animated when you're doing the part. So you'll see a lot of flailing arms, but a very still face.

I'm not a huge scary movie kind of guy; like, I don't do slasher movies, because I'm really squeamish. But if I had to pick a favorite, it would definitely be 'The Shining' with Jack Nicholson. Not only is that a scary movie, it's just a flat out classic.
