It's nothing new. What's new is the fact that we talk about it now, we don't brush it under the carpet.

It's such a heated thing. We are taught as children to respect authority figures. When an authority figure hurts us and we minimize their responsibility or blame the victim, that's the individual and society as a whole becoming confused.
