It's very important what we're trying to do. We're trying to shine light on this. We've been sitting in the dark for many years and this committee has learned numbers that no one else knows. I want to be sure my kids and grandkids won't have to fight this battle 50 years from now.

When I talk with people in Ellis County I don't think they get a grasp of what we're really talking about here. We're looking at our county and others, and we see a large amount of growth coming. In 1990, Williamson County had a population of 139,000. In 2005, the population reached 329,000. Our county is growing at a faster rate than that. Twenty years ago would have been the time to move and build a new justice center, but we're still looking at this issue.

When we started this process we had the justice center property we couldn't talk about.

Yes, this is very different. We've been trying to find a way to begin a dialogue for the last few days. So we're pleased that we have one right now.

The marchers were trying to make a statement, but some people wouldn't let their minds get bogged down in all that. They weren't paying attention. They could ignore it.

I was trying to be more of a presence on defense. I wanted to be more active.
