I've known Tim and Letitia quite a while. It puts us all in a position of, 'Who do you believe?'

It's time we in Springfield sort of broaden our scope a little bit and bring more people into the process.

I have always tried to get Tim to be a little more open-minded and diverse in his thinking,

We both made some concessions, but ... this ... will get the thing at least where the mayor will appoint the membership and allow them to go out and function, ... It's not everything I would have liked to have had. Is it a step in the right direction? Yes.

There are other positions I would have liked to have seen a greater presence of African-Americans in, ... It isn't over until it's over. My role is to keep the pressure on.

Years ago, John's dad was yelling and screaming at us; he was like, 'Goddamit, I can't understand a fuckin' word you're saying,' ... And John was like, 'You know what? That's how I should sing. I should just take it to the next level and make it so freakin' brutal that you can't even understand it.' And when he did that, it just jelled with the music that we were playing. The more we tried to make it heavier, the better the songs came out.
