I've liked catching my whole life — that's what I've done. This year, being the number one pitcher, it's fun having that position. … I was very excited about coming in to pitch. I like being a team leader, and I like being victorious, I guess you could say. Being that important person works for me.

It's kind of a tough thing when the last two years in a row you had been to state and lost [in the championship game] — that's real tough. And then you go in the first round and you're done. You're like, 'Wow. Did that just happen?' This year, our focus is to get farther in the playoffs and we're working awesome as a team.
