I've only been at two schools, Colonel Crawford and Galion, and the kids have been great.

Over 25 years I've never gotten over seeing the tears and heartbreak in kids' eyes when you lose. Unless you win a state championship, you will have kids that have been crushed. You never get over it.

The wins are nice, coach-of-the-year awards are nice, the hall of fame is nice. But the award of coaching is when you get a wedding invitation from a former player, or when they stop in and talk to you after they've graduated. That's the ultimate, when you know you've had a positive impact on their lives.

Inexperience. We have a lot of positions open.

It's weird just hearing everybody say it. It's quite an honor, it's unbelievable. It makes you look back at your career and it makes me realize how lucky I've been.

When I was coaching, the kids wanted to leave private schools for the public schools so they could get the best coaching, play the best competition. It's not that way anymore.
