I've seen some children that can talk and communicate a little. And I've seen others that are totally laid out. They have no movement. They can't do anything by themselves. Literally, if they're 8 years old, it's like taking care of a baby.

All of the equipment's gone. They stripped it completely.

They would just assume they've been given a test and they need to pass this test. And it's their lot in life to take care of a child like this. And they'll give it everything they've got. And they'll do a good job. Very good job.

I don't want to describe it in too much detail. It's not a real pretty sight.

We write not only for children but also for their parents. They, too, are serious children.

Children don't read to find their identity, to free themselves from guilt, to quench the thirst for rebellion or to get rid of alienation. They have no use for psychology.... They still believe in God, the family, angels, devils, witches, goblins, logic, clarity, punctuation, and other such obsolete stuff.... When a book is boring, they yawn openly. They don't expect their writer to redeem humanity, but leave to adults such childish illusions.
