Joseph Wambaugh is a hero to today's crime writers, and 'Hollywood Station' will school them all: to this day, no one writes about cops' lives with his force and immediacy.

We will be highly visible on the streets of London and anyone committing a crime will be held to account. I am absolutely clear about that.

Hollywood, to hear some writers tell it, is the place where they take an author's steak tartare and make cheeseburger out of it. Upon seeing the film, they say, the author promptly cuts his throat, bleeding to death in a pool of money.

Your thefts, which are probably my biggest crime, then vandalism to cars or school desks or rooms. But what I call violent crimes like rape, murder, you don't see that inside our schools.

If at the end of the day they say 'Mr. Tulloch you have to go' I will accept it with love and grace but until then I won't run and leave the youths. If they find a coach and say 'Mr. Tulloch go' I will move on just the same. It's a challenge and you just have to stand up to it.
