Just like people, the best thing you can do for your animals in the heat of the summer is to keep them inside. If that isn't reasonable, you must provide them some shelter that is out of the sun. They need a cool place to crawl under.

Most people are not coming to the game because they want to support cruelty to animals. They are simply unaware.

You know your pet best. Any behavior out of the ordinary, in this kind of heat, should alert you that something is wrong.

We were playing a fair, and a few people were handing me stuffed animals and flowers, but one person handed me a paper sack. So I took all the stuff back to the bus. I put the sack in my lap and opened it, and a live iguana jumped out of the sack and onto my shirt. I screamed like a little girl!

Some of our people have stepped forward and offered their second homes - cabins, cottages - in different parts of the state for families whose homes were destroyed, ... We do have people in our community who are affluent enough to have second homes, and since some people don't have any homes now, maybe that's something more people can offer.

It took a three-hit game for people to notice that.
