Lawrence Gonzi is constantly taking the wrong decisions to the detriment of the Maltese and is not interested in tackling problems seriously

Prime Minister Gonzi could not be trusted, he repeated, since there was no visible and plausible explanation for the ballooning deficit which reached €345 million in August.

The government is undecided on a lot of things including the budget date, its content, Malta’s EU commissioner, government re-shuffle and utility tariffs. It is not even replying to our most simple parliamentary questions and no motion we presented in well over a year was discussed

If I were the Prime Minister responsible for the next budget, I would introduce a maximum tariff rate that would remain stable for the whole year, thus giving a guarantee that irrespective of oil prices, the tariff will remain the same

We need a government that acts

A Labour government would also bring about a generational change in tax collection, shifting taxation from income to environmental issues. In this way, people who were enterprising and were successful because of their hard work would not end up being penalised by paying more tax.
