Levity is important. I've always enjoyed writing in a tongue-in-cheek manner. When what you're writing about is tragic or futile, I've found that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.

This is my way of commenting on what's happening right now. It's disturbing. I saw Condoleezza Rice asked how many Iraqis have been killed. Without blinking an eye, she said 30,000. It was as if she was counting beans in a jar. It's horrible.

It's just wonderful having a child. It's wonderful watching him dance around. He's so innocent.

It should have been resolved without letter writing or a presentation at our council meeting,

We try to get them comfortable here with the idea of writing, and keep them writing when they leave. We're all storytellers. We may not become professional, or published writers. But we can learn to preserve our stories on paper or video.

Especially when a person is deceased, you want to remember all the good things. The two fears of writing are how it affects you and how others will react.
