Life is like a landscape. You live in the midst of it but can describe it only from the vantage point of distance.

We all live with blinders on. They come with having a personal vantage point.

You ask what my conclusions are, rereading my journals and looking back on World War II from the vantage point of quarter century in time? We won the war in a military sense; but in a broader sense, it seems to me we lost it, for our Western civilization is less respected and secure than it was before.

At this point in my life I'd like to live as if only love mattered.

The point is to keep your distance. Rabies virus is serious. If a raccoon bites and runs off, we have to assume it is wild and the individual is placed in a treatment that may not have been necessary.
