Love-quarrels oft in pleasing concord end.

Oft he seems to hide his face, / But unexpectedly returns / And to his faithful champion hath in place / Bore witness gloriously.

The end of all learning is to know God, and out of that knowledge to love and imitate Him.

But as some muskets so contrive it As oft to miss the mark they drive at, And though well aimed at duck or plover, Bear wide, and kick their owners over.

Where's the face / One would meet in every place? / Where's the voice, however soft, / One would hear so very oft?
