MDOT has maintenance agreements with 63 counties statewide. They prove to be an efficient way of maintaining the state highways.

MDOT wants to make our rights of way available for non-motorized uses, while we continue to work to improve the safety of both non-motorize and motorized users.

A void was created underneath the road while trying to avoid the rock. The contractor temporarily repaired the void by pumping a grout mixture underneath the road, which will stabilize it for the winter. The road is expected to reopen this morning.

What we'd like to do is coordinate it so that the state and the counties are on the same page and that we're providing the same message to anyone ? whether they're a private landowner or large-scale developer.

It seems like every few years there's a state lawmaker who bites the dust. But in terms of a statewide officer, she may well be the first, or at least the first in a while.
