Man's chief enemy is his own unruly nature and the dark forces pent up within him

The control man has secured over nature has far outrun his control over himself.

If people think nature is their friend then they sure don't need an enemy.

I am pessimistic about the human race because it is too ingenious for its own good. Our approach to nature is to beat it into submission. We would stand a better chance of survival if we accommodated ourselves to this planet and viewed it appreciatively, instead of skeptically and dictatorially.

The law cannot equalize mankind in spite of nature.

Comforts and syphilis are the greatest enemies of mankind.
