Many people will assume I'm drawing a wildly idealistic portrait of what the church can become. I would argue that all of the changes I'm calling for are not only realistic, they're essential. And I'd also say that in some way or other, each of them is already underway.

When I'm on stage, I'm trying to do one thing: bring people joy. Just like church does. People don't go to church to find trouble, they go there to lose it.

We need an aggressive vocation recruitment program. The church has got to develop new ways to nurture and encourage black vocations.

For people who cannot get to church for various reasons, this is a great option. But it will always be a poor substitute for joining the faith community in person.
