Me and my mom were driving to school, then out of the fog came a pile up of cars. We couldn't stop, so she swerved into the median.

It was like a scene out of a movie. One moment I was studying and the next I was running across I-49. That was something I never thought I'd do.

Just as I said that, like a ghost, an 18-wheeler came out the fog. It just flattened a line of cars. I could hear cars screeching and smashing. It was a domino effect.

We were driving to school one morning when he was 8 years old and I said, 'Luke, what do you want to be when you grow up?' ... He said right then he wanted to be a professional baseball player. I wanted to tell him how it was a long shot and he should probably choose something else. It was right there on my lips. I think God stopped me. Instead, I said, 'Luke, somebody has to be a major-league baseball player, so why not you?'

We did have kids driving to school. They don't belong. It's not fair to the younger kids on track and the older kids, ... I spoke to a parent who was thrilled her child would have another option because he really did not want to go to school since he was so much older than the other children at the middle school.

This is probably the most exciting thing that's ever happened to our school. It's crazy.
