Money is a bottomless sea, in which honor, conscience, and truth may be drowned

It's a great honor. This is a tournament I have always played well at, and probably my best Grand Slam. So it's a great honor, and I'm looking forward to it.

I promise, through my conscience and honor, to fulfill faithfully the obligations of the post of prime minister, with loyalty to the king, and to uphold the constitution as the fundamental law of the state, and to keep secret the deliberations of the council of ministers.

There were many ways of not burdening one's conscience, of shunning responsibility, looking away, keeping mum. When the unspeakable truth of the Holocaust then became known at the end of the war, all too many of us claimed that they had not known anything about it or even suspected anything.

Perhaps conscience did not always produce cowards. Sometimes it made a man feel better about himself.
