Genetically modified foods are good.

We don't want to produce grapes. We want to answer the scientific question of whether this transgenic (genetically modified) root can lead to the plant developing durable resistance to this virus.

For consumers, the lesson is simple: Genetically modified foods are safe to eat.

The position I took at the time was that we hadn't really examined any of the potential environmental consequences of introducing genetically modified organisms.

Many of the genetically modified foods will be safe, I'm sure. Will most of them be safe? Nobody knows.
