Most of the benthic macroalgae were gone, giving reefs in the lower Keys a clean appearance not seen in years. Also missing were many elkhorn corals, sponges and urchins -- broken or swept away by the raw power of a storm surge that bent 18-inch steel I-beams.

I think we did a great job of not giving up the big play. There were some missed tackles, but overall I was pleased. I keep telling people that we are going to be solid on defense, and if we can build on today's performance, we will be in good shape.

I indicated that this would be done to avoid even the appearance that anyone connected with the court was doing anything wrong or improper.

I know the appearance, to some, looks inappropriate. But we were glad the U.S. coaches were helping the athletes from developing nations, because that was best for the sport. If there were any problems with Kelly and Tim, he would have been terminated immediately. There weren't.

My face seems too square and my eyes too big, like I'm perpetually surprised, but there's nothing wrong with me that I can fix.

Everybody is just ignoring us. There is such a large opposition to this project. This area is not ready for development.
