Most of these people don't have jobs to go back to because New Orleans is gone. They're going to have to come up with a system to get money coming in so they can maintain themselves.

You could call it a mini-diaspora. The people in New Orleans, the people along the Gulf really had a culture. In many ways, they have been thrown out of the Garden of Eden, if you will. It's a diaspora brought on for people with no resources.

The federal government must come in and provide funding for food, clothing and medical care in each place they're going to.

State and local officials there are dealing with the beginning of recovery efforts. It's possible the teams will go to Texas [after the hurricane hits], but they'd probably come back to Delaware first.

When they lost their jobs, they lost everything, ... income, benefits, friends, reputation, and sometimes even family. Their years of work didn't deliver what they thought the organization had promised. They'd had an unwritten social compact with their employer that if they did their job well, they could keep it until retirement.

I want to give people jobs, believe me, ... I want to get back there and rebuild and want to be a part of the community. My heart is with my staff.
