Mr. President, where are the weapons that you told us about?

Sixty percent of us got $304. Has your property taxes gone up more than $304 because the president cut cops on the beat, refused to fund special education, refused to fund "no child left behind?"

We will only win when we show up and fight for the issues important to all of us,

This bill does exactly what the administration said it wanted ... It sanctions companies, not countries, that sell weapons technologies. Buying time, to me, is a very important asset.

[Also on the tapes, Dean Rusk, Kennedy's secretary of state, counsels that the use of nuclear weapons would have to have support from America's allies.] I think we would be hard pressed to tell our own people why we are doing this with India when even the British won't do it or the Australians won't do it and the Canadians won't do it, ... We need to have those other flags flying on these joint enterprises.

They have learned the lesson of North Korea. Once you have nuclear weapons, the US saber-rattling becomes much less. After all, with North Korea you have a genuine madman in control of a country with the bomb and yet we don't hear very much about them at all.
