Music helps you feel better and it's healing. So these kids will actually have something to look forward to and have a band instrument to play.

Seeing the kids perform will be very healing. After this show, we'd like to do something to let the kids tell their stories from their perspective. No one from New Orleans will ever be the same.

They have the same fears and pressures as adults and nowhere to channel this energy. Music gives them an outlet for this energy, and helps them find a way to relieve stress, while having fun.

Being able to make music again with these instruments has meant a great deal to these students and their families, as well. The more 'normal' we can make it for our kids the better.

What we're finding is that teenagers really like the music. We've gotten good feedback from kids in Woodland, too. Everybody likes it. I think it's because we play the best songs from each decade, with an occasional new hit tossed in. Good music is timeless.

I felt we could get here (to Columbus) and the kids really believed they could. This will be a tough one for us. They're a good team.
