My goal is to help people get off of reliance on government and move them to self-reliance.

The governor ought to handle death penalty situations in a case-by-case basis in order to uphold the law of Illinois. I support the death penalty in limited circumstances, and I think it's incumbent upon the governor to make sure that innocent people are not put to death. We don't need a moratorium to do it for us.

My parents didn't raise me to hold children responsible for their parents' actions.

I don't believe the people of Illinois want a governor that is unclear on the basics of legislation or one who plays loose and fast with the facts.

A governor has the power to stay executions or commute sentences on a case-by-case basis, not to issue a blanket moratorium. We have put in place the safeguards necessary to protect innocent men and women from being executed.

It's like Goldilocks here. You've got to be just right. You can have not too much experience nor too little. I think you need to have just the right amount.
