My image had always been very heterosexual, very straight. So it was a nice experience for me, a chance to clarify my own feelings about gay and lesbian civil rights.

Marriage is a sacred religious institution ordained by G-d between a man and a woman. Government should have no say in revising its definition.. ...But if Gays want to have a "Civil Union" as a domestic expression of their relationship entitling them to the same rights and privileges under the law, which they should, ....please don't get in their way. The main objection I have is when people fail to make the distinction.

Civil rights and women's rights and gay rights all take time in this country.
