New York and New Jersey politicians will continue to beat up on this for a long time. Especially the Democrats, who don't hold many strong cards on national security. This has been like nectar in the desert for them.

The politicians of New York have everything that is necessary to make proper decisions and they will have to live with what happens afterwards. The worst scenario is the politicians covering their eyes and turning it over to the FBI.

At a time when many New York small businesses are indeed still recovering from the disruptions caused by the attacks of Sept. 11th, these reports of abuse of the STAR program and the profligate use of scarce government resources are indeed inexcusable,
