None of this was a reaction to the situation with the University of Mississippi. Our meeting with him as the result of it being the end of the season.

We certainly welcomed the input we got from Ball State University, Purdue University, Ivy Tech, and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, ... Not that those were endorsements, but they were just very helpful in looking over our plan and offering suggestions to make it the best it could be.

We had hoped the university would see the error of its ways and correct this wrong without going to court. Unfortunately, the controversy only emboldened them to further divide students along the lines of their deeply held religious beliefs. It's really too bad it had to come to this.

They met with John (Wednesday), but other than that, there's no changes. He didn't say a whole lot about (the interview). We talked some about it, but it's just he and I talking (about it).

He said everything went well, went fine. No offer was made.

Well, I've always been of the mindset never to hold anybody back if they have the opportunity. But we will try to keep him.
