Nonviolence, equanimity, contentment, austerity, charity, fame, and ill fame; all these diverse qualities in human beings arise from Me alone.

Humility, modesty, nonviolence, forbearance, honesty, service to guru, purity (of thought, word, and deed), steadfastness, self-control; and / Aversion towards sense objects, absence of ego, constant reflection on the agony and suffering inherent in birth, old age, disease, and death.

Thou hast power only to act not over the result thereof. Act thou therefore without prospect of the result and without succcumbing to inaction (The translation follows thusKarmani ave adhikars te--you have the power to act onlyma phalesu kadachana--you do not have the power to influence the resultma karmaphal hetur bhoo--therefore you must act without the anticipation of the resultma sangostu akramani--without succumbing to inaction)

There is nothing Lost or Wasted in Life

When one perceives diverse variety of beings resting in One and spreading out from That alone, then one attains Brahman.

As a lamp in a spot sheltered from the wind does not flicker, this simile is used for the subdued mind of a yogi practicing meditation on Brahman.
