On Dec. 19, Rob Simmons made a terrible choice for the people of Eastern Connecticut.

It's a good choice. It may be a little higher in sugar but it's still going to come in under state regulations.

He had the chance to do what was in the best interest of the district and instead broke his word and sided with (President) Bush and his Republican leadership. Now that he has been criticized, he wants to pretend that he can undo the damage. That's not leadership. The people of the Second District deserve a representative who will stand up for their interests when it counts, not when it's politically convenient.

I have little choice but to conclude that some of the intelligence related to Iraq's nuclear weapons program was twisted to exaggerate the Iraqi threat.

The Christian faith can never be separated from the soil of sacred events, from the choice made by God, who wanted to speak to us, to become man, to die and rise again, in a particular place and at a particular time.
