On the other hand, he's skated for as long as I can remember and it's going to come to an end. We're just gearing ourselves up for really enjoying Italy. It could be our last Olympics, and we just want to have fun and treat it like that.

When we got $200 for a pair of skates, it was a major celebration.

I think the thing that we take away from it is - and this goes way back to the beginning - that we were able to do everything as a family. I mean, it made us one of the closest-knit families that you can imagine. I've said it before: He's my son, I'm very proud of him for his athletic prowess, for the kind of man he turned into, and most of all, because he's my best friend. And I don't think we could have ever developed that had we not had this common bond all through life.

If you want my opinion, I'd say no. I don't think he can do it. You're looking at a guy who's got very, very good chances in three races.

He not only won, he blew everybody away.
