On the religious Right and religious people in general have the feeling that the world is not just material, the world is not just there for us to do what we want with. That our bodies, things have an immaterial essence, a spiritual essence that God is in all of us.

I don't think McCain does that. He is only lightly attracted to the religious right, or not attracted, if you watch his shifting position on gay marriage.

Religious people are happier.

Adherents of the new religious right reject the separation of politics and religion, but they bring no spiritual insights to politics.
