One misconception is that we work for insurance companies or the Division of Worker's Compensation. We're doctors who take care of patients the same as anyone.

We can't discuss a patient's medical problems with an employer. But we can discuss the work limitations and restrictions that the worker needs to follow.

Impairment ratings don't necessarily correlate with functionality or lack thereof. Impairment ratings are legal numbers.

This makes it almost impossible for new doctors from India [to get a job] and even the 800 and odd unemployed Indian doctors who are already here hoping to get a training assignment will now have to pack up and go once their visa expires.

The doctors were responding to that first stroke properly with the use of blood thinners. It is unfair to critique them based on the information we have.

We have notified doctors of this outbreak and urged them to be on the lookout for additional cases. It's important that they voluntarily report any suspected illnesses to their local health department.
