One of the things with our movement that sometimes we forget because we're always talking about equality and rights and wrongs that are perpetuated upon us. We forget to talk about love and that's why we're lesbians, because we love other women.

What guarantee is there that when the group we're helping gets up the ladder they're not going to leave? Are they going to pull up the ladder or help me too?

I found lots of them who would like to and would start it.

Equality, in a social sense, may be divided into that of condition and that of rights. Equality of condition is incompatible with civilization, and is found only to exist in those communities that are but slightly removed from the savage state. In practice, it can only mean a common misery.

This is real. This is about basic, fundamental rights. It's about laying a foundation of equality for everybody, and he missed a golden opportunity to stand on history and to do something that is noble and appropriate. By no means was this a profile in courage. What a wasted moment for his administration.

Forget about 'Deep Impact' or 'Godzilla,' ... This is real we're talking about.
