Oppression in the name of religion is a time-honored tradition. I'm sorry that people are fearful. Those fears are usually based on ignorance.

It really seems absurd to have a municipality of this size. Most of the people that live there aren't even voters. They live elsewhere most of the year. Probably a homeowners association is more democratic because most people are not voters.

It's been a very popular hospital. We just need to provide more services. I imagine it will help offset some of the losses of Jackson Memorial Hospital in downtown and should help with the bottom line.

We must not enable anyone to impose his personal view regarding religion on others by force, oppression, or pressure.

The more man clings to religion, the more he believes. The more he believes, the less he knows. The less he knows, the more stupid he is. The more stupid, the easier he can be governed! The easier to govern, the better he may be exploited. The more exploited, the poorer he gets. The poorer he gets, the richer and mightier the domineering classes get, the more riches and power they amass, the heavier their yoke upon the neck of the people.

It was a time of oppression and you spoke up -- and we won. Without you, I wouldn't be standing up here either.
