Our office has no objection to work release, as long as it is approved by the administrators at the Wayne County Jail.

The opportunity to decrease the number of doctor-office, infusion-center or hospital visits is welcome news - both for people with serious anemia and their families who have to deal with driving and waiting hours while their loved ones are getting treatments.

We do have particular populations that would be particularly interested in this, and we would work with the Advancement Office to identify those populations and contact them.

Ottumwa Regional Hospital and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Regional Office are attempting to work through the issues at hand. It is very rare for CMS to withdraw Medicare funding due to these types of violations, especially when the hospital is working to correct them. And, it is my understanding that the hospital will be submitting a plan of correction to CMS shortly.
