Our people really enjoyed it here. The facilities are great, and we have a great relationship with the University of Arizona. It feels like home to me here.

Too many people think that economics is this subject that should wait until the university level. But it can't wait that long.

Freedom of inquiry, freedom of discussion, and freedom of teaching - without these a university cannot exist

It would be irresponsible for this University to not enforce its rights under this agreement.

I heard somewhere that maybe one or two people doubted the capacity of East Carolina University to achieve that great status. It's hard for me to believe that anyone would have doubted us, but I think the record speaks for itself.

In consultation with the University Committee, we decided that people should not serve as chair of the Athletic Board for inordinately long periods of time. Many departments on campus change chairs every two years or three years. It seemed like a good thing to do.
