Over the last couple years the Episcopal church in general had an issue with gay blessings and gay bishops and unfortunately the pressure is coming down on Rev. Reynolds right now.

I was shocked. There is no indication that he was capable of doing this.

I spoke with Rev. Reynolds yesterday and he does not know what precipitated the shooting. He doesn't really recall doing the shooting. He knows he did it, but he has no idea why.

There are enormously gifted Episcopal priests around this church who are gay and lesbian, some of whom are partnered, who would make wonderful bishops and they're going to be nominated and they're going to be elected.

Now the Anglican church is saying that you can be gay but must not do it. It is completely absurd.

We're almost conditioned as gay people that the church means the Christian Right and the anti-gay sentiment. We don't even consider church as a possibility for us.
