Parts of the Voting Rights Act are due to expire next year if Congress doesn't extend them, including the section that guarantees that voting rights will be protected by the federal government.

Congress must reauthorize all of the expiring sections of the Voting Rights Act. This renewal must happen without changes that would weaken the law's original intent, to ensure that minorities have equal and unhindered access to the ballot box. Reauthorization of the act is a truly bipartisan effort. People of all political stripes agree that every American should have their right to vote guaranteed.

The government had an obligation to tell and inform all EU citizens of our voting rights. They didn't do this,

If there's not a major push for the renewal of the Voting Rights Act, many of the advances we've seen in the past two decades will be severely undermined.

I support the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act.

No one questions the validity, the urgency, the essentiality of the Voting Rights Act.
