People seem to think that life began with the achievement of personal independence.

“You think you know better, don’t you?” is a phrase that I’ve often heard from authority figures in my life, whether it be my parents or past managers. Given my independence that only grows as time goes on and having shrugged off a “normal” job working solely for other people, I find the answer to that question is more and more obvious. Yes, I fucking do know better, and not for lack of trying.

I have not lived as a woman. I have lived as a man. I've just done what I damn well wanted to, and I've made enough money to support myself, and ain't afraid of being alone.

There is no personal achievement in being born beautiful.

Why play by the rules when we can make them ourselves?
