Phish is such a good band; they just make stuff up as a jam band.

The whole jam-band vibe has definitely expanded.

You make your mistakes to learn how to get to the good stuff.

There's a lot of personal stuff that can go into songwriting but there's also a lot of dramatization and fictionalization. You have to do that to make a good song.

We wanted something different this year. We're still keeping the musicianship, as opposed to it being a jam band fest. There's also a lot more standard bluegrass acts and we've never had an act like Bobby McFerrin before. You don't have to be a bluegrass artist - you just have to be a great artist to fit in at Telluride.

But if you want to be in a band and write music, then you should just be in a band and write music.
