Presidents have the right to nominate their own cabinet secretaries. But their nominees don't have a right to confirmation. Senators have a constitutional duty to advise and consent to the appointment of all Cabinet officials. They should take that duty seriously.

For the record, I believe elected officials should talk about faith. Our founders believed the moral principles of faith were indispensable to our nation's survival. The Declaration of Independence mentions God four times.

What I'm hearing right now from the governor is waffling on the one issue that can clearly explain compassionate conservatism, ... If compassionate conservative means anything, it has to mean do anything we can to stop the loss of 1.5 million unborn children every year.

The purpose of our policy is to respect the senators and the confirmation process.

Empathy is a virtue, but it should not be a guiding judicial principle.

I can't find the word 'abortion' in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence . . . yet in those words, the right to life is the first right cited.
