September tends to be the take-a-breather month, historically. I would guess the market over the next few weeks will be bound to a narrow trading range as companies begin to report earnings.

February has historically been a lackluster month for the stock market.

The market was getting extended. It's natural that it would stop to take a breather.

We'll see how good we are in a few weeks, I guess.

As our September FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) meeting followed Hurricane Katrina by approximately three weeks and was held concurrently with the formation of Hurricane Rita, I felt that there was insufficient information as well as great uncertainty about how these forces would play out in the near term,
