She was a very, very religious person. She played piano and organ at her church at one time.

The center is for more than just religious research. We encourage non-members of the church to use the facilities for their own genealogical research.

These meetings may be at a church, but they are not religious meetings. They are anti-casino meetings. We wanted to get active right off the bat with this issue.

I also thought it was important (for students) to see a black young lady achieving her goals.

That was kind of tough because my father (Raymond) taught in the schools here. She was always talking to young people about education, always counseling young people to go to school, get an education. 'Education is your ticket to anything you want to do.' That's why she paid for so many kids to go to school.

She never turned a patient away. She was always looking after other folks.
