She was in a panic; she was totally panicked. She had four kids all ready to go to school and they were all crying outdoors. They were crying for their father. She was trying to get in the van and leave and I tried to tell her to stay and wait for police.

We started this program when our kids were going to school there (AHS). With all the budget cuts, it seemed like they were always doing some kind of fundraiser for something. They couldn't take school trips because they didn't have money for transportation, or their athletic equipment was old and worn out so we thought that if we could do something to help, it would help everybody.

It's not just introducing the salad bar into school, it's introducing a way of eating.

We give three $150 scholarships to Mohawk High School seniors at our June meeting each year, ... This is our way to give back to the community.

Each honoree receives a plaque and mementos from the high school. Often our legislators give a proclamation. To be honored by the place that raised you, your school, is quite special.

The middle school numbers are up from last year, and the high school numbers are down.
