Silence and secrecy has been the most frustrating component of this case. It just seems inhumane that information about this child can be forbidden on the theory that it's somehow protecting her privacy, when you consider that this child almost died under the state's care.

If this was a robbery, a murder or a case of national security, and the sole eyewitness to the case says 'Please drop the charges,' do you think they would ever just obey the only witness' wishes? It's the military's responsibility to prosecute a crime because it's an offense to the military.

The better the information it has, the better democracy works. Silence and secrecy are never good for it.
