Since I got out of grad school at NYU, I've always done as many plays as I can.

First of all, Craig Lucas' work, any of it, for any actor, is such good material. It's so alive in such a poetic, yet human way. It's theatrical, but it lets you emotionally connect with the characters.

When I got out of the army, I had the G.I. Bill. Since I had no high school education or anything like that, I came to NYU, and they took a chance on me and let me in.

I went to drama school at NYU for serious acting. So I was doing Chekov and Sam Shepard plays.

My mother had lived in London since I was little, so she never got to see my school plays and stuff.

I've always performed. I've done plays at home.
